Robinswood Hill Country Park
Free country park on the edge of Gloucester with hill walks, trails and big city views.
Robinswood Hill Country Park is a free 250-acre park on the southern edge of Gloucester, rising to a hill with sweeping views over the city, the Severn Vale and out to the Malverns and Welsh hills. It is a favourite for families wanting a no-cost outdoor day, with waymarked walking trails, grassland, woodland and plenty of space for children to run, fly kites and explore.
There is a visitor and education centre, a nature trail, a geology trail and a dry ski slope on part of the site, with some activities charged separately. Day to day the appeal is simple and free: a good walk up to the top, wildlife to spot and room to roam. The climb gives older children a proper sense of achievement and a great view as a reward.
It suits all ages as a free outdoor outing, though the hill paths are harder going with a buggy. Bring a picnic and stout shoes and make a morning of the walk to the summit.
Good for: outdoors, sporty, sensory. Ages: 0–2, 3–4, 5–7, 8–11, 12+.
