Valley Railway Adventure
Narrow gauge steam and diesel railway at Evesham Country Park, running half-hourly rides along a mile of 15-inch gauge track beside the River Avon.
The Valley Railway Adventure operates a 15-inch narrow gauge railway at Evesham Country Park on the banks of the River Avon. The railway has run on this site for over twenty years, making it one of the longer-established miniature railways in Worcestershire.
The single-track route covers just over a mile, with trains running at half-hourly intervals. Journeys are steam or diesel hauled depending on the day, and the return trip takes around fifteen minutes. The scale of the locomotives and the genuine steam operation on selected days make it more than a fairground ride: it is a working miniature railway with a real operating pattern.
The railway sits within The Valley leisure complex, which has additional facilities on site, making it practical to combine a train ride with other activities on the same outing. It runs every weekend throughout the year and daily during local school holidays, which gives it a broader operating window than many seasonal heritage railways.
For children who have developed an interest in trains, or who are encountering a working steam locomotive for the first time, the close-up scale of a 15-inch gauge engine has a particular appeal: the locomotives are small enough to feel accessible but detailed enough to be genuinely satisfying to watch.
Good for: trains, outdoors. Ages: 0–2, 3–4, 5–7, 8–11, 12+.
